Steven Platt is a contemporary painter focussing on the Cornish coastal landscape.

Steven grew up in Newlyn and Hayle in Cornwall. His paintings explore the Cornish coast from a local viewpoint, catching sea views from a far, from in between coastal architecture or through the windows of buildings as you pass by. The sea is an important factor in his work, even if the predominant surface on the painting depicts a pebbledash wall, or the hustle and bustle of village life. Steven is fascinated about the purity of nature contrasting against the hard lines of humanmade structures. His style is both loose and defined, energetic brush strokes and textural fluidity describing accuracy and detail. His inquisitive nature is always exploring, which is evident through his body of work to date.

Gallery Representation

Steven has had two solo shows at the Penwith Gallery in St Ives, Cornwall and his work is regularly exhibited in the Summerhouse Gallery in Marazion, Cornwall.
